Workshop for training the representatives of consumer protection NGOs

In cooperation with the European Union and an English company specialized in designing training courses for representatives of consumer protection NGOs in the United Kingdom, the CPA has organized a workshop under the theme: ”Training of the Representatives of Consumer Protection NGOs“ on Sunday, December 16, 2007. The course was attended by 25 members of consumer protection NGOs from allover the country.

Training Officer Pete Strange overviewed the components of the program which aims to step up the efficiency of NGO representatives and scientifically train them on performing various consumer protection activities. This includes internal management systems, determining the agencies that assist the CPA in protecting consumers and identifying targeted consumer groups, prioritizing and helping handle consumer problems, and developing the skills of support rallying and proposal drafting of projects that are submitted to seek donors’ support.

Suggestions of attendees about the modifications they saw necessary for the program to meet the needs of consumer protection NGOs in Egypt were taken into account. Final modifications are being applied to the program and are expected to be completed by mid January. Training of Trainers is in progress at an NGO support center, and real training will start by the end of March/beginning of April 2008 once the required funds are allocated by any donor.
